I conceptualized, wrote, and produced this 30-second spot on behalf of The Arthritis Foundation.
The Arthritis Foundation is known for their transparency, accountability, and for their stellar advertising. In 2019, the organization pulled in $90 million in revenue and spent $82 million on initiatives and program funding.
In this spot, the task at hand was to both inspire and motivate those in the 55+ crowd suffering from arthritis as well as to incite them and their families to support AF in this more short-film approach to commercial production. We departed from traditional concepts based on pushing one’s limits through physical exertion and pitched this concept - a shift toward the creativity that is often unearthed at this stage in life, to make it necessary, and to honor it.
Production Coordinator
Under the umbrella of Public Address System, I was the treatment writer for and the production coordinator on this three-week, seven-spot, run-and-gun production.
Capstrat Communications and UNC Healthcare awarded us the task of delivering UNCH’s message in a way locals could relate to. 87 locations, 1,500 miles and ten days later, we were able to convey the most essential aspects of the seven North Carolina communities that UNC Healthcare serves in a way that connects these values to the viewer. It was the most well-received campaign to date according to internal testing and produced unprecedented results. This campaign caught the attention of Duke Energy and led to an ongoing relationship, now four years and eight spots in. See all seven UNC Healthcare spots here.

I wrote and produced this two-minute anthem video as Content Director and producer for Public Address System, a NYC/NC based production company.
Anthems denote what’s at the core of a brand. And, ‘Out Here’’ gets at the heart of Public Address System, a company whose mission is built on communicating messages embedded in an America that always has been and always will be – workers, shop-owners, adventurers, lovers, survivors, protectors, defenders.
This anthem video captured the attention of Duke Energy, UNC Healthcare, and Garmin. It would eventually inspire the formation of Off Route; an adventure lifestyle brand built to highlight and promote nomadic living.

I wrote and produced this 60 second spot for Maine Magazine as part of their effort to support and preserve the lobster fishing industry.
Maine Magazine exists to support Mainers in their purest form. And lobster fishing is at the heart of the history, nature and romantic quality intrinsic to this great state. In order to highlight and help preserve an industry that Maine Magazine so vehemently supports, we scouted Mid-coast Maine by bike for four days, hoping to intimately connect to the place people swear is magic. It totally worked.
When we were finally lucky enough to meet a few lobster fishermen, we saw authenticity in a light we could never have otherwise. The story unfolded easily from there. The video, posted on Maine Magazine’s website, their social channels and in email campaigns incited unprecedented engagement.

I wrote and produced this 60-second anthem spot, Proceed to the Route, for Off Route, a startup lifestyle brand designed to promote and enhance a more nomadic lifestyle.
Proceed to the Route was a passion project that inspired the formation of the media company & brand, Off Route. In addition to writing and producing video projects, I write all of Off Route’s digital content, copy for zines and other print materials, and aid in conceptualizing, implementing and marketing creative projects.
Producer
I produced and assisted in editing a three-and-a-half-minute doc-style video and a 30-second student-shot video for the College Board. They were used in social campaigns, email campaigns and on the College Board website.
The Indiana/Florida based production for the doc-style short was driven by stories. I was responsible for selecting the best stories from a large group of students chosen by The College Board. Once the stories were in place, we built the scenes around them with the help of “real” people in their day-to-day environments.

I wrote and produced this one and half minute short film and Mother’s Day tribute for Adventure Cycling Magazine.
Our task was to create an homage to all of the single moms and to inspire moms everywhere to take time for themselves, 1 - to live a more fulfilled life; 2 - to have the energy to keep giving; and 3 - to pass on the importance of this to the next generation. Adventure Cycling launched this campaign on Mother’s Day, releasing this video to their audience digitally via social, email, and on their website.
This short film was produced in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and along the bi-ways and coast of Mid-coast Maine over the course of a month.
Marketing & Content Director/Production Manager
I wrote all content for publicaddress.tv, developed, wrote and produced content and content strategies for Public Address System and for their clients, created mutually beneficial partnerships and relationships with production teams as well as nonprofits and companies, wrote and produced commercials and promotional videos, and became proficient in marketing and data management and analysis. I worked with Public Address System full-time for four years and continue to work with PAS as a freelance writer/producer.
Public Address System is a video and digital content production company specializing in prosocial communications, including mission-driven marketing, core messaging, CSR and public affairs communications. They work with corporate, non-profit, and government entities to heighten visibility, increase awareness and engage stakeholders by conceptualizing, producing and disseminating a range of content, including commercials, web videos, interactive presentations, documentaries, articles, white papers, and social media campaigns. Through executing hundreds of TV, special event, social media and web-based projects, they have developed an expertise in translating values and social concerns into inventive media that entertains and informs.
I founded Penn+ Creative in January 2015 to localize my digital marketing talents and create an umbrella under which other creatives could do the same. I managed client relationships, digital marketing, event marketing, social media and content strategy, both digital and print marketing and advertising campaigns, and web design, SEM, and SEO optimization.
The goal of Penn+ Creative was to facilitate and promote corporate-nonprofit & community partnerships through digital marketing, event marketing, event promotion, and media. Penn+ maintained an assembly of freelance writers, designers, photographers, digital marketing specialists and developers in order to design the creative team best suited for a particular project.
Through purpose-driven branding, social media and content marketing, SEO, SEM, web design, and event marketing, Penn+ managed to change the game for clients with the metrics to prove it.
Content writer, social media manager, and SEO strategist.
Ideal-Living is an event and content-based advertising platform designed to promote 55+ communities and companies that exist to enhance the 55+ lifestyle.
I was a freelance writer for Ideal Living Magazine and ideal-living.com for three years before diving into the role of content writer, social media manager, and content strategist under the umbrella of Penn+ Creative. Penn+ drove traffic to the website and to Ideal Living Shows through content marketing, social media promotion, and event marketing. Penn+ started a more personal conversation with the Ideal Living audience through testimonial videos, candid event photos, exceptional content and a social good component all of which inspired engagement and site activity and drove ticket sales. After accepting a full-time position as Business Development & Marketing Manager, I returned to my role as a freelance writer with Ideal-Living Magazine.
Writer/Designer
As content director for Public Address System, I was responsible for writing and creating (and in some cases presenting) treatments for both prospective and existing clients.
Writing pitches for and eventually pitching commercial and film projects allowed me to connect intimately with the opportunity at hand. That connection fed the passion that facilitated selling in ideas laid out in these director-led sales tools. For access to full treatments , please email your request to jamierebeccapenn@gmail.com.
